Kodzo Gavua is an Associate Professor of Archaeology and Heritage Studies at the University of Ghana, Legon. He holds a PhD and a Master of Arts degree in archaeology and African archaeology respectively from the University of Calgary, Canada. He also earned a Master of Arts degree in International Affairs, and a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Archaeology and Philosophy from the University of Ghana.

Among his areas of specialization beyond archaeology include ethnography, museum studies, anthropology of tourism, economic anthropology, art history, and material culture studies. His research focus is on relationships that may be found between cross-cultural interactions and Africa’s cultural heritage and economic development.

He engages in public archaeology and cultural advocacy and is currently investigating the legacies of trade and cross-cultural exchanges in Ghana.
